DUMMIES GUIDE TO CA-7
CA-7 Basic Training
Who's it for?
Anybody who needs a basic understanding of how CA-7 hangs together.
You may be new to Operations, Scheduling or even managing a DP group with CA-7 responsibilities.
We get all sorts on this course.
What do I expect!
Nothing but the ability for you to listen and remember to switch off you mobile
phone before entering the room! However,
I have found that people who have had a small amount of exposure to CA-7 before
the course do get more out of it.
What does it cover.
- Basic understanding of the CA-7 database.
Its not until you understand what a trigger or job schedule is that you can have any concept
of how CA-7 works.
- The Queue structure.
Having defined jobs in the first section of the course we then run them through the queue discussing all the major queue listing and manipulation commands.
- Job Failures and Restarts
CA-7 includes several different facilities for handling, condition code,
JCL error and abend failures. Please note the course does not cover CA-11 options.
- An introduction to Workload Balancing and Virtual Resource Management
Its very important that anybody investigating the queues,
understands how jobs can be held by workload balancing or virtual resource management
and the factors effecting the job's priority.
All students receive a 80-page full colour course handout and a quick reference card.
Duration
Normally, this on-site course is 2 days.
