Special Resources: 
CA-7 provides a facility which is very similar to OPC's special resources, it is called virtual resource management (VRM).

However, there are difference between the two so some extra jobs need to be created.

For each different resource two new jobs are defined to enable the resource to be held (VRMxxxxH) and released (VRMxxxxR). Here you can see the jobs controlling the resource that has been given the code 0001. Unfortunately, this means routing out all the JCL that is used to switch the resources on OPC and changing these to submit one of these new jobs ob CA-7. This could be quiet a manual task!

I have included a program which enables you to find out the reference number for each resource. Here I have typed in a resource name and it has given us the number. You can also use this to list all the resources.
