Learn how to use your digital SLR with James Barry.

James Barry (c) 2004

If you would like to know how to improve your photographic skills or are thinking of a career in portrait photography then why not take a short course with James Barry and learn the techniques to take better pictures.

There are certain rules for portrait photography, which if you stick to can create stunning images. If you are aiming to be a professional portrait photographer these rules are a discipline and while you may chose to break them on occasions you need to understand when to cross this line. If you are entering images in competitions or for professional qualifications, you will find judges will mark you down if these basic rules are broken.

The course includes:

  • A mix of theory and practical lessons.
  • When to use the different shoot modes.
  • How to get good white balance every time.
  • When to use the different metering modes.
  • Focusing facilities.
  • Image quality and size options.
  • Cleaning your sensor.
  • How to use exposure bracketing.
  • You will receive a hand-out which covers the 1 day course.
It includes information, diagrams, examples and space to write your own notes.
