The Rocking Ceilidh Band for Weddings and Parties

Unreel instruments
Unreel are:

James Barry:  Caller and Drums.  James is simply the most entertaining caller around, guaranteed to get you dancing and having a good time.

Alan Diamond:  Bass.  Drums and bass make this Ceilidh band rock.

Julian Burton:  Squeeze boxes and Saxophones.  Julian's sax playing takes Ceilidh music into new and jazzy territories.  Listen to Tripping Upstairs.  We play all that fiddle-de-dee stuff, then Julian gets out his tenor sax for Jump at the Sun and things change up a gear - or three!  Or take King of the Fairies.  A set of hornpipes starts with a reggae edge, finishes more like a New Orleans marching band.  Magic!

Stephen Sibbald:  Fiddle

Ian Chisholm:  Mandolin Bouzouki and Guitar

Mike Ainscough: guitar
James had one of the finest beards in Sussex, if not the world.

James on TV

See James' beard's appearance on TV.

But then ........
"Got challenged at the Unitarian conference and I said I would cut of one inch off for every £100 raised, when they got to £5k they told me it was all coming off!"

beard is gone

TO BE CONTINUED!!!!  (Half the pictures on the web site are now out of date!)
The band may also feature other local musicians and dancers including:

Penny Burton: caller and dancer.  Penny called dances in French when we played in Lille.  Penny
Derrick with serpent

Derrick Hughes: bagpipes whistles and serpent.
Derrick also plays with Ian in The Twagger Band
Mal Smith:  drums

If you a different kind of music, for example if you want a disco after your barn dance, Mal runs The Hoo-Hah Party Sound System - sound system, light show and professional DJ.
Mal's Trike

kilts

Stephen is from Nairn, near Inverness, and Ian is from Edinburgh.  They have a duet repertoire featuring many reels and Strathspeys.

Kilts will be worn when appropriate!

And by the way, we also play the blues .....

Ian and Mike

In the '70s Ian and Mike played in the legendary Egbert Souse All Stars.
We were a lot prettier in those days!
